There are presently 76 Genshin Impact characters available, so there are plenty of options for your perfect team. However, with so many various weapons, elementals, abilities, ascension bonuses, and constellation upgrades to choose from, it can be difficult to choose your favorites.Don’t let the characters’ placement on our Genshin Impact tier list prevent you from selecting the next character banner. While base stats and elemental powers are significant, a character’s worth is also determined by his or her personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. Even if your favorite Genshin Impact character is on a lower tier, you may still use our recommended Genshin Impact builds to make it work. Being on a lower tier in the free PC game indicates that better choices exist, or that the character requires a very specialized setup or squad to thrive. We’ve spent hundreds of hours in Spiral Abyss testing numerous variants of teams to figure out who the top characters in Genshin Impact are.

Furina
Furina is the sixth Hydro Archon in the game, and she’s unsurprisingly one of the greatest characters. The best way to think of Furina is as a Hydro version of Bennett, which most players should realize is a huge issue. Her healing skills, along with the damage buff she delivers to her party, are extremely potent, providing veteran players with new opportunities to assemble formidable teams. Furina’s damage buff applies when her party has 50% or below health, which adds a little danger to her game plan. As long as you manage to stay alive, you should have no trouble dealing with Genshin Impact’s toughest foes.
Ayaka
Ayaka, the Cryo Sword user, was added to the game with the Genshin Impact 2.0 update. Many people had great expectations for this character, and it’s safe to say she delivered. She can easily trigger the Melt response as a Cryo user when teamed with Pyro characters. Ayaka excels in the DPS role, and she can even serve as a sub-DPS if necessary. Ayaka, who was most recently seen on the Genshin Impact 3.5 banners, remains one of the strongest characters in the game owing to her chemistry with so many members of the roster.
Kazuha
Kazuha, the first character from Inazuma, immediately wowed the Genshin Impact community with his tremendous adaptability. This Anemo Sword fighter can deal a lot of damage on his alone if he has the greatest Kazuha build. If you can get him onto a team that uses elemental reactions, the amount of damage you can do is absolutely mind-boggling.
Zhongli
There was a period in history when Zhongli was considered underpowered due to the state of Geo, but that hasn’t been the case for a long time. Zhongli is noted for his formidable Jade Shield ability, which allows other characters to fight without worrying about timing their attacks. Because your DPS characters spend more time striking and less time avoiding, they can inflict more damage. Take a look at our Genshin Impact Zhongli build to understand how you should construct this defensive monster.
Hu Tao
This Polearm and Pyro character can become devastatingly powerful when set up with the right build. Hu Tao is a risky character to play as she becomes stronger when her health is under 50%, but if you learn to keep the perfect balance in combat, she is easily one of the best DPS characters in Genshin Impact
Raiden Shogun
Due of the intensity of the Electro element, Raiden Shogun initially appeared lackluster when she first joined the game. Raiden Shogun has risen through the ranks to become one of the top Genshin Impact characters as players learnt how to maximize her skills. Her excellent support build generates an excessive amount of energy, allowing her to easily fit into a number of teams. Not only can she quickly become a top-tier DPS character, but the Dendro element has only strengthened her.
Yelan
The common view on Yelan is that she is effectively a five-star version of Xingqiu, and as some of you may know, Xingqui is arguably one of the game’s best characters. In comparison to many of the other five-star options, you don’t have to spend as much time selecting the right weapons and artifacts for Yelan because she scales with HP. Use the best Yelan build to produce an amazing sub-DPS character, then pair her with the best Genshin Impact Yelan team to complete the Spiral Abyss’ most difficult stages.
Bennett
Bennett plays the support role in most parties, offering a damage boost to the entire squad, healing, and delivering damage as needed. Bennett has the highest selection rate of any character in the hardest Spiral Abyss floors for a reason: he’s the perfect all-in-one character.
Ganyu
Ganyu is still one of the finest DPS characters in Genshin Impact, because to her Cryo skills, which allow her to permanently freeze adversaries in the presence of a Hydro character. She also has the unique ability to shoot various types of Cryo arrows with her charged attack, including one that deals AoE damage. The finest Genshin Impact Ganyu build, when combined with her tremendous AoE elemental skills, may continuously hurt and freeze her adversaries with little effort.
Xiangling
She may not deal the most melee damage with her Polearm, but Xiangling is one of the greatest Pyro characters in Genshin Impact. Her elemental skill summons a fire-breathing teddy bear, and her elemental burst covers her in fire for up to 10 seconds. Because of the strength of her abilities, Xiangling allows for many different team compositions to exist – don’t let this four-star character deceive you, she’s quite good!
Yae Miko
Electro characters like Yae Miko have grown in popularity after the 3.0 release with Dendro. The elemental reactions of Electro and Dendro are extremely potent, transforming good characters like Yae Miko into exceptional characters. If you use our best Yae Miko build to outfit her for the sub-DPS position and also run an Electro battery character, she can excel.
Nahida
Archon characters are usually some of the best in the game, so there was a lot of excitement before Nahida’s release as the community expected her to be extremely powerful. It’s fair to say Nahida lives up to the hype thanks to her incredible synergy with most of the Genshin Impact cast. Dendro was already a synergistic class, but now Nahida can replace characters like the Traveler to instantly improve your Dendro parties.
