Palworld Knocked Off Top Spot on Steam Charts

Palworld was a huge success for creator Pocketpair, but it has lost its position at the top of the Steam charts. Palworld effectively combines the open world survival game genre with monster-catching features. It went viral overnight, rocketing to the top of the Steam charts.

Palworld was formerly the best-selling and most popular game on Steam. Palworld’s amazing success resulted in it passing 2 million concurrent players on Steam, putting it just behind Counter-Strike for the record. There’s no disputing that Palworld has been a huge success, and if the developers can address its more serious faults and provide new content to the game in a timely manner, the game has an excellent chance of remaining extremely popular through 2024.Nonetheless, Palworld couldn’t maintain its top status indefinitely, and as the current Steam charts show, the game has lost its position as the best-selling and most-played Steam game. The freshly launched Helldivers 2 has taken the top spot on Steam’s bestsellers ranking, while Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 have pushed Palworld off the most-played list. Palworld presently ranks third in both categories, though it’s worth noting that Counter-Strike 2 is technically a free-to-play game.

Steam Top Sellers Right Now

  1. Helldivers 2
  2. Counter-Strike 2
  3. Palworld
  4. Call of Duty
  5. Helldivers 2 – Upgrade to Super Citizen Edition

Palworld’s performance while still in early access is really astounding, and it will be interesting to watch if lapsed players return once major upgrades are released. So far, Palworld updates have primarily addressed bug fixes and technical issues. However, developer Pocketpair has revealed its roadmap intentions for future Palworld updates, and it goes without saying that some exciting new features are on the way.

Future Palworld upgrades will include more Pals, islands, PvP, crossplay, and more. Eventually, the Xbox version of the game should be closer in quality to the Steam release, allowing Palworld to have dedicated servers on Xbox and boost its player count to 32 from the present four.
Bringing Palworld to new platforms could also help it gain popularity. Palworld on PlayStation 5 would be massive. Even if the game is certain to be a major blockbuster on the platform, fans should not expect to see it on the Switch or any other Nintendo console in the near future.
