Challengermode Partners With PGL For First-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major Qualifiers

Online tournament platform Challengermode has been named the exclusive platform partner for the inaugural Counter-Strike 2 Major in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Teams can now register for the Challengermode platform’s multiple open qualifiers, which will begin in early January 2024.

After the newest collaboration with the International Esports Federation (IESF), which saw Challengermode become the official partner for the 2023 Esports World Championship, the esports competition platform has been growing its relationship portfolio once more.

The firm collaborated with BLAST to organize the European and Oceanic RMR Qualifiers leading up to the BLAST.tv CS:GO Major in Paris in early 2023.

“As a vital infrastructure provider within the esports ecosystem, Challengermode is fully committed and confident in our role,” said Robel Efrem, CEO of Challengermode.

“Our collaboration with PGL is a strong affirmation of our technology’s robustness and scalability.” It’s about more than just hosting a Counter-Strike 2 Major; it’s about giving the esports community the resources it needs to create unique stories and memories for everyone involved.”

The cooperation announcement came shortly after PGL unveiled the RMRs’ three official locations: Bucharest (Romania) for Europe, Shanghai (China) for Asia, and Monterrey (Mexico) for the Americas. The tournaments will be held online, with no live audience.

The top RMR teams will then be invited to compete at the PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major, which will be held at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen from March 17th to March 31st. A total of 24 teams will compete for a $1.25 million (£992.900) prize pool.

Counter-Strike 2 will formally replace CS:GO in Valve-sponsored esports championships in 2024, putting the new game to the test to outperform its predecessor. According to Esports Charts, the most popular CS:GO event of all time was the PGL Major Stockholm 2021, which had a peak audience of 2.75 million.
