Helldivers 2 devs hike max player cap to make wait times ‘much more bearable’

A growing army of democracies.

Arrowhead Studios diligently laboured to enable further champions of democracy to play Helldivers 2 as hundreds of thousands of players stared at blank screens and login failures. The shooter’s already-stretched player cap has grown and is expected to continue doing so going forward, thanks to their efforts today.

Late on February 22, Arrowhead boss Johan Pilestedt tweeted that the Helldivers 2 team has been working around the clock to find a rapid fix for the capped server issue. The capped count has been increased from 450,000 to 700,000, which is a remarkable surge for a game that is still struggling with the server constraints set by the developers.

The thousands of players who have been trying to play the game will be pleased to hear that this update should lessen the number of black screens and login issues they run into, according to Pilestedt.
Defenders of liberty everywhere, including the undoubtedly exhausted team at Arrowhead, may celebrate a great triumph.—The studio CEO finally took to Twitter at 4am CET, following hours of discussion. The CEO has since removed numerous tweets from that previous period in an effort to “avoid any confusion” for individuals who are just now catching up.

Despite this victory, things are far from over; Pilestedt has also acknowledged that Arrowhead intends to make “final improvements” for the weekend and has cautioned that the playerbase for Helldivers 2 will probably surpass the new 700,000 cap at some point. Given that Helldivers 2 has become incredibly popular so soon after its release and has often reached its server restrictions, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Lots of players are hoping the Helldivers 2 developers get some sleep after all the nice feedback about the increased cap and the AFK timer in Patch 1.000.11.
