The release of RONDO on December 6th concludes a revolutionary 2023 for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. We’ve included new features like as Blue Chip revives, clan tools, and a redesigned PUBG Arcade. We elevated our esports community by recognizing Global Partner Teams. Throughout it all, we kept surprising you with collaborations with Aston Martin, Street Fighter 6, and KFC.
However, the year is not yet finished. We’re thrilled to provide a couple additional key upgrades now that the new map is available.
STANDING OUT AS A BATTLE ROYALE
The release of RONDO has driven PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS to over 620,000 peak concurrent users per day on Steam, an astounding accomplishment for a game that debuted nearly seven years ago. We’re looking forward to seeing even more Survivors arrive in RONDO now that it’s available on consoles as of this morning.
With almost 170 million registered accounts and 21.23 billion hours played, that equates to 2.4 million years of gaming time! — The euphoria around the new map in December was preceded by a significant milestone in PUBG’s history. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS officially reached $3 billion in lifetime revenue in November 2023. The whole PUBG Studios team is humbled and grateful to all of the gamers who have dropped into the battlegrounds over the years and contributed to PUBG’s lasting impact on the gaming industry.
EXPANDING THE GAMING EXPERIENCE
The release of Ground of Honor: RONDO, a live-action short film directed by Sam Hargrave (Extraction) and starring Jung-jae (Squid Game) and Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands, Westworld, Tomb Raider), also signals an expansion of PUBG’s lore.
With over 1.3 million views on YouTube alone, Sam and team’s effort illustrates that PUBG isn’t defined solely by gaming. The compelling live-action trip through RONDO exemplifies PUBG’s lasting appeal as a creative play environment that can accommodate stories of various proportions.
