Netflix has huge plans for its often-overlooked gaming division, and here’s the surprise: on December 14th, the streaming service will offer all three entries from Rockstar’s updated GTA Trilogy.
For those who are unaware, Netflix has long included mobile games in its iOS and Android apps, but this is the most recent addition. Members will be able to download the most recent versions of GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas for free, as the firm attempts to keep consumers by offering appealing value adds.
While GTA is undoubtedly a big name, it’s worth remembering that Netflix already has some big titles under its belt, including Spiritfarer, Dead Cells, and Kentucky Route Zero, to name a few. It will also include the critically renowned indies Hades and Death’s Door to its catalog next year. This is unlikely to have a significant influence on Sony for the time being, but it is something to keep an eye on.
Indeed, the gaming industry has never been more competitive, with more and more companies attempting to get into the lucrative market. All of this implies that PlayStation must be at the top of its game because entertainment time is limited, and it is up against some formidable competitors these days.
