MLBB’s decision to sponsor a collegiate league in North America demonstrates Moonton’s desire in expanding the scene outside Southeast Asia. In addition to its North American collegiate alliance, Moonton enabled Chinese teams to compete in this year’s M5 World Championship for the first time.
The brand-new North American league will consist of around 20 universities from around the United States of America. These teams will be divided into two regions: East Coast and West Coast. Teams in those divisions will participate in an online group stage before moving on to the knockout stage and a regional final. Each region will have one champion, who will be invited to an offline Grand Final versus the other regional champion. The two universities will fight for the lion’s share of a prize pool of $6,000 (£4,700).
